What’s a “Travel Companion”?

So, we know what you might be thinking, and by all technical definitions these are what someone might call simply “bags”, but have you heard how people talk about bags today? Bag is practically a dirty word…

Aside from distancing ourselves from less fortunate members of the “bag” classification, referring to our products as travel companions is in alignment with our life philosophy…

Designed to Reduce Waste

Most often products start when the designer makes a drawing. A pattern maker then creates a pattern of the pieces needing to be cut. Finally materials are sourced and ordered to assemble into the product.

At Danny Boy, this is all done together with constant revision, so that the pattern isn’t completed until the fabric has been chosen and exact measurements of width and pattern repeat are known. The pattern is designed to use the full fabric width and to start and end at the same pattern point, so no fabric is wasted between each cut section. Effort is made to choose shapes that take advantage of the negative space left from other pieces, so that minimal fabric is left unused in the final product. Of the very little fabric that is trimmed from between pieces, all of it is saved and used to stuff animals for donation, leaving no fabric wasted

All products are designed and assembled in USA.
